Mount Oldonyo Lengai, the “Mountain of God,” is an active volcano in northern Tanzania near Lake Natron. Sacred to the Maasai people, it’s the only volcano in the world that erupts rare carbonatite lava. Standing at 2,962 meters, it offers a challenging climb with stunning views of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Natron. Climbers typically start at night to summit by sunrise.
